Ukulele Lessons

Here at Eagle Rock Music Studio, our ukulele lessons may occur in Los Angeles, but the folks who fire up their ukes inside our building bring us some of Hawaii every time — which we love, of course. Our ukulele lessons are available to musicians of all ages and skill levels: if currently your uke is being used more as a toy and you would love to impress the party guests, or if your child is begging to learn the instrument, or if you are a more serious musician looking to increase your proficiency level so you can contribute to recordings, Eagle Rock has something for you.

History

The ukulele first appeared in 19th century Hawaii, though it did not gain international popularity until the 20th century after experiencing a time in vogue in the United States first. Ukuleles tend to come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone.

Appeal

The ukulele is more than a novelty instrument: not only does the ukulele appear on popular recordings from time to time, but some well-known musicians take the instrument quite seriously. Pearl Jam singer/guitarist Eddie Vedder, for example, released an album in 2011 called Ukulele Songs that — as the title implies — consists entirely of songs played on he plays on the uke.

Lessons

At Eagle Rock Music Studio, we encourage our students to develop their own musical voices, and because of this we believe students need to be in a supportive, friendly, and engaging environment where their ambitions can be achieved in an active manner. We offer two course paths for those who wish to learn the ukulele: one for those seeking to play professionally, and another for those seeking to just play recreationally.

Both paths, though, start with the identification of your goals and working with your instructor to create a detailed plan to effectively reach those goals. In the case of an aspiring professional ukulele player, practice is enormously significant for increasing your level of proficiency with your instrument. Actually refining and perfecting these skills under the training of an instructor — who can help you work towards fulfilling your goals every step of the way — is critical to your development.

At Eagle Rock Music Studio, we guide dreams towards reality — and we love it when our students take the necessary action to surpass the goals they set for themselves because they love playing their instrument that much. We recognize that everyone is different and responds to various teaching styles differently, so in addition to our group classes, we offer private lessons tailored to each students musical needs and interests.
