Clarinet Lessons

Applying to a highly selective music conservatory? Need a place for your child to build on what he or she has been learning in band class? Or just want to pursue the clarinet as a hobby for your own enrichment? If any of these describes your situation (or if your situation is somewhere in between), Eagle Rock Music Studio in Los Angeles has you covered — we have lessons available to those of all ages and skill levels.

History

Clarinet-like instruments have been in use for millennia, dating as far back as the Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. However, Johann Christoph Denner is credited with inventing the modern clarinet around the turn of the 18th century, with a few more additions made to the design by the others throughout the early 19th century.

Appeal

Clarinets are a standard part of classical music ensembles, with use in concert bands, orchestras, chamber music, and in solo work, as well. In addition, clarinets are commonly used in military bands, marching bands, jazz, folk settings, as well as in ethnic music like Arabic pop, klezmer, samba, and choro. An instantly recognizable instrument, the clarinet still has widespread appeal after centuries of prominent use.

Lessons

Eagle Rock Music Studio offers two course paths for clarinetists: one for those aspiring to play professionally, and another for those just looking to play for recreation or their own personal enrichment. Though we teach good technique, tone, time, feel, and reading ability, we also have developed a philosophy of providing a supportive environment to foster the growth of each of our students, so that they cultivate their own musical voices.

All of our clarinet lessons are private — we tailor our lessons specifically for each student to match his or her learning style and skill level. But moreover, our learning environment is structured, allowing for our instructors to target specific goals in order for our students to transition from dreaming about becoming a better clarinetist to actually doing the things great clarinetists do — and improving as a result.Whether a student is applying to a music conservatory, has an upcoming audition for an ensemble he or she would like to play in, student is playing just for fun, we are here to help.

Eagle Rock Music Studios is located just north of downtown Los Angeles between Glendale and Pasadena. We look forward to seeing you come by. For more information or to set up a lesson, please call us at 323-309-8467.
